Allan Houston, the University of Tennessee's all-time leading scorer, will have his jersey retired March 6 when Kentucky visits Knoxville, the school announced Monday."Allan represents everything the term 'student-athlete' is supposed to represent," athletic director Mike Hamilton said. "He was a very good student, a campus leader and tremendously successful on the court. We are thrilled to have his number hang in the rafters at Thompson-Boling Arena as a tribute to who he was, and is today."
Houston was a two-time All-American and an all-conference selection in each of his four years. He ranks second in the conference in points, behind only LSU legend Pete Maravich. In his senior year, Houston averaged a league best 22.3 points per game.
A native of Louisville, Houston was drafted 11th overall in 1993 to the Detroit Pistons and played 12 seasons in the NBA.
