Dwayne De Rosario Q&A
Only two days removed from a blockbuster trade announcement, one could forgive Dwayne De Rosario for feeling a bit weary as he transitions to a new city and team. However, in his first interview since Monday's deal that sent midfielder Dax McCarty to New York in exchange for the five-time MLS All-Star, De Rosario is anything but fatigued.

Davies aiming for three points on 25th birthday
A victory in Saturday night's fixture against the Houston Dynamo (6:00 p.m. EST/Comcast SportsNet, Telefutura) is important to D.C. United's aim of moving up the Eastern Conference table, but three points would mean something extra special to striker Charlie Davies.
"It's my 25th birthday on June 25. It's a golden birthday and I have to make the most of it," Davies said Friday. "I'll be happy with a win. That would make the night special."

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. ? It was Major League Soccer?s all-time leading scorer Jaime Moreno?s first game at the helm of United?s newly formed Under-23 Academy team. Early on it was easy to see his new club resembled its head man?s game, hustling its way into early scoring chances.
In the first minute, D.C. United forward Marco Mangione deflected a pass in front of the Hotspur goal which forced Fredericksburg Hotspur goalkeeper Ryan Taylor to make a diving save. They threatened again just four minutes later, drawing a penalty kick which was shot wide by midfielder Paul Torres.

Training notes: Brettschneider's progression
BRETTSCHNEIDER PROGRESSING
Rookie forward Blake Brettshchneider has brought a youthful presence to a Black-and-Red attack comprised of veterans like Charlie Davies and Josh Wolff. Overlooked in the January Superdraft, the University of South Carolina product joined United when the club selected him as the 21st pick in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. Since then, Brettschneider has worked hard to prove he is an asset in MLS, eventually earning a spot in the starting eleven. The 22-year-old's coaches have been impressed with his progression in Major League Soccer.

Ahead of home stretch, United seek improvement at RFK
WASHINGTON ? There?s been tremendous improvement over last season for D.C. United in several aspects, but the inability to capitalize at home has cost them valuable points.
On the upside, the club has scored 19 goals in 14 games overall, which is only two fewer than they scored all of last year. On the defensive side of the ball, there have even been signs of progress, though scattered between some shaky performances that highlight the inexperience of a young back line.

Overall thoughts on the match:
Luckily, somehow, we were ahead in that game. Because from the way we were most of the second half we should have been losing. Somehow, we found a way to get another goal, but our ability with the lead is just not good enough. We have a long way to go.
In the first half it looked like we had some good chances, we should have probably been ahead ? but [Houston] had some good chances too. We are still giving up a lot of opportunities.

Zayner's full shift a welcome development for DC United
While D.C. United?s performance may not have been their best shift on the road to date, there were still some positives to take from Saturday?s 1-1 draw at Real Salt Lake.
A young defense responded after a lackluster performance the weekend before, conceding four goals on home turf to San Jose, with RSL only scoring on a first half penalty kick. Chris Pontius was lively again on the left wing, threatening the opposing defense with storming runs, only denied a goal by and offside flag and striking the woodwork on two separate occasions.
